Introduction to Alternative Access for AAC
This is a full day (6 hours) face to face, hands on introductory training with access to a range of communication devices, access methods and a presentation from an AAC communicator.
Participants will learn about:
- Gaining an understanding of the different access methods for AAC devices
- Using a range of different access methods for AAC devices
- Identifying a range of switches
- Getting started with a switch assessment
- Getting started with an eye gaze assessment
- Using tools to develop operational competency for alternative access to AAC devices
- Hearing about the AAC journey from an AAC communicator
- Basic environmental controls
- Basic internal and external computer functions
- IOS & Android connectivity
This training is designed for:
● Speech Pathologists who are working with AAC systems or supporting AAC communicators
Participants will learn about and use a range of different access methods for AAC in a practical and enjoyable session.
