Training Winter, my greyhound, with my Accent, has been a bit of a learning curve. Most dogs don’t naturally respond to computerised voices, and Winter didn’t either at first. Coming from a farm, everything about the Siobhan Daley life was entirely new for her, and learning to respond to a computerised voice was no different.
I used my usual Karen voice, but it just wasn’t grabbing her attention. She’d act like the commands weren’t even there.
I figured it was worth trying a few different voices, and that’s when I realised Winter responds much better to the Acapella Lisa voice. It catches her attention in a way the others didn’t. So, I programmed all her main commands—like “stay” and “come”—to use Lisa’s voice through the temporary voice tool.
With the Accent 1400 set up this way, Winter is much more focused and responsive during training. Seeing how changing a voice can make such a big difference has been interesting, but it’s worked. This setup has helped us work together more smoothly.
