Liberator Rugged™ and NovaChat® Discontinuation
An important change has taken place in our family of communication devices. The Liberator Rugged and NovaChat devices have been discontinued and are being replaced with our next generation of technology.
Introducing NovaRugged™
The new NovaRugged™ 8- and 10-inch devices are now ready to support AAC communicators with even better features. Created with feedback from users and professionals like you, these innovative devices combine the best elements from both previous models with valuable improvements:
- Enhanced durability with a tougher rubber frame for everyday reliability
- Improved kickstand that’s sturdier and offers comfortable adjustable angles
- Stronger carrying handle and attachment points for easier transport
- Convenient touch-to-wake function for instant access when needed
- Updated Android operating system for smoother performance
- Flexible support for both LAMP Words for Life® and Chat Software (including WordPower®)
What This Means for You
If you’re a speech pathologist working with a client who needs a communication device, or if you’re supporting someone who uses AAC:
- NovaRugged™ devices are now available for trials and purchase
- Standard trials last 3 weeks (5 weeks when comparing vocabularies)
- The devices are eligible for NDIS mid-cost AT funding
- NovaRugged™ is compatible with NovaChat® mounting systems
- Each device comes with a carrying case, four coloured frames, and all accessories needed
Support for Existing Devices
Rest assured that support continues for your existing devices:
- We’ll continue to support and repair Liberator Rugged™ and NovaChat® devices under warranty
- Repair parts will be available for 3 years from the final purchase date
- Loan devices are available during repairs
- For devices older than 3 years, we can provide an end-of-life letter to support replacement funding
Already Applied for Funding?
Good news! If you submitted quotes or AT applications for the Liberator Rugged™ or NovaChat® before March 13, 2025, don’t worry. We’ll honour these at the original quoted price and provide a voucher code to use at checkout when purchasing the equivalent NovaRugged™ device.
